More and more automobile begin to use HID Lamp, such as Audi A6, Sonata2.7, Passat V6 2.8 and so on. HID Lamp is a gas-discharge bulb, in which several kinds of high-level inert gases exist. Not like the normal halogen lamp which is with a filament, HID Lamp excitated the xenon electron to dissociate by spake between the electrode in the two ends of tube, to form a bunch of strong arc with continual luminescence between the two electrode. This beam is much more brighter, the light area is more wider, and the color temperature of this super strong white arc light is close to sun’s ray( color temperature 4300K～6000K)，which is most comfortable for human’s eyes. The brightness is generally triple to the normal halogen lamp, but consumption power is about 45% of normal lamp.
Life-span of HID Lamp in fine quality is usually even longer than your automobile.HID Lamp set is composed by tube, wire set and ballast. There are various kinds of HID Lamp with different price. But there is very few factory can produce HID Lamp. The difference between HID Lamps depends on the ballast.
Ballast in fine quality can start the tube instantly and reach the brightest level very quickly, and the output voltage is steady, so that the beam will not flicker. The shell is usually made of aluminium alloy, with a fine cooling effect, shock resistance, can work for a long time inside engine room under high temperature, so we have to pay attention to the ballast quality when refitting HID lamp. Besides, we should pay attention to the focusing status when installing HID lamp and prevent the beam to be emanative. HID lamp has a very high brightness, so if the beam is emanative, it may bring harm to the other cars running on the road. It may make drivers on the other side dizzy and cannot see the way clearly, and results in traffic accident.
A simple checking method is to drive your car to the place 20 meters away from the wall and dead against the wall, and then turn on the headlight, check whether there is a dividing line of dark and bright when the beam casts on the wall. If the dividing line is a beeline with clear confine, it indicates a fine focusing effect and your HID is correctly installed. Otherwise, your HID lamp needs some adjustment. If still cannot reach the standard after adjustment, you should refit it or replace some fittings for new ones. Taking the danger brought by emanative beam, some of the Europe companies regulates that when using HID lamp, you must choose lamp with lens, altitudinal adjustment function and washing function. For automobiles with separate passing-beam and hi-beam, we advise to install HID lamp only onto the passing-beam light set and halogen lamp onto the hi-beam light set, so that you can not only guarantee the brightness for daily drive, but also guarantee the hi-beam penetrability and function of continual flashing.
